TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified
ICU/Critical Care RN in Sacramento, California, 95823! Job Title:
Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2
years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have:
Ability to read and interpret EKG strips; experience with
ventilators; comfort with comfort care patients; capability to
participate in multidisciplinary rounds. Description: Unit consists
of 12 beds. Patient ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:2, though 1:1s
occur infrequently. The electronic medical record system used is
Cerner. Charge nurse usually does not take patients but provides
break relief. No nurse aides are available on the unit. Weekend
shifts require a minimum of four shifts in a four-week period.
Holidays rotate with core staff. Scrub colors are navy, with
undershirts being navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional
but must be navy. Telemetry capabilities are essential. Respiratory
therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7.
Shifts start at 07:00 and end at 07:30, with report conducted at
the bedside. Self-scheduling is in use, with schedules available
four weeks in advance. Travelers can mark themselves available for
extra shifts and trade with other staff. Block scheduling is
generally not available. Floating may occur to other facilities,
though mid-shift floats are rare. Floor-specific orientation
includes 1 to 2 days with a preceptor. Common diagnoses include
medical/surgical ICU patients, non-STEMIs, CVAs, multi-organ
failure, sepsis, respiratory failure, and post-operative
complications. Common bedside procedures include TEEs and
bronchoscopy. Comfort care patients are frequently present in the
ICU. Cancellations may occur for up to four shifts during a 13-week
assignment. Charting is completed using the Cerner system. 5
