Your job will be to build AI scientists that conduct autonomous biomedical research with GenBio’s virtual instruments and simulators. If successful, your contributions will enable rapidly designing and orchestrating end-to-end biological simulation studies for drug design, healthcare, and biotechnology development. Responsibilities Applied Agent Development: Build and deploy applied AI agents specifically tailored for complex workflows in software engineering, data science, and scientific discovery. Build Agent Environments: Architect fast, secure, and performant environments for AI code execution using tools like Kubernetes, gVisor, and Modal. Evaluation & Benchmarking: Design and implement rigorous evaluation frameworks to hillclimb agent performance, reliability, and reasoning capabilities. Inference & Optimization: Optimize LLM inference pipelines and manage fine-tuning workflows to ensure models are scalable and low-latency in production. Research Engineering: Translate experimental research concepts into robust, shippable product features, maintaining high engineering standards throughout the process. Automate Everything Qualifications Education & Experience: M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, machine learning, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Agentic Systems Experience: Proven experience building applied AI agents or complex LLM-driven applications, with a focus on tool use, code generation, and long-horizon planning and execution. Deep Technical Understanding: Deep knowledge of LLM inference, fine-tuning techniques, and the modern AI infrastructure stack. Infrastructure Mastery: Proficiency with containerization and secure sandboxing technologies (Kubernetes, gVisor) and serverless execution platforms (Modal). 0-to-1 Mindset: Experience bootstrapping products in fast-paced startup environments; you are comfortable building from scratch with high autonomy. Interdisciplinary Communication: Excellence in both engineering and research communication, with the ability to articulate complex technical challenges to a diverse team.
