**This particular position will be staffed in the Sunnyvale, CA or Salt Lake City, UT location.**
Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) seeks a Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Lead Engineer who will be responsible for development, integration, test and deployment of systems for a variety of government missions. This SEIT Lead Engineer will collaborate with customers, RAST senior leadership, and a team of systems engineers to develop new systems and associated Concepts of Operations; install, configure and field test systems that incorporate new technology; and troubleshoot, enhance and maintain existing systems in customer facilities to ensure and support customer mission success.

The SEIT Lead Engineer will lead a team of diverse SEIT Engineers to perform and execute the following:

  • Understand customer objectives and requirements, and conceptualize and put into practice new solutions
  • Brief those solutions to the customer community as the customer concepts evolve into firmer requirements and expectations
  • Define, analyze and document CONOPS, system requirements and specifications, and system architecture
  • Generate concrete plans for loosely defined and/or highly complex challenges to enable engineering teams to execute and deliver solutions accordingly
  • Lead teams of engineers to develop and integrate software, hardware and FPGA components and platforms to form new solutions
  • Create the appropriate systems documentation (e.g. RVTM, I&T plans, acceptance test plans/procedures, test reports) required to develop, integrate, test and deliver to meet customer objectives
  • Provide technical, systems operation and training support
  • Communicate with customers throughout the systems/product development lifecycle to ensure satisfaction of customer objectives within cost and schedule constraints
  • Lead proposal preparation including definition of the technical baseline, technical approach, and technical execution; and generating associated effort estimates
  • Define, execute, and document technical trade, impact, and risk analyses
  • Mentor less experienced and/or less knowledgeable engineersRequired Skills:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering in multiple phases of the systems development lifecycle (e.g. CONOPS, requirements, design, integration, verification, validation, deployment)
  • Breadth of experience and expertise in systems engineering activities that includes at least 5 of the following:
  • define and analyze requirements
  • develop architectures
  • conduct trade studies
  • generate and maintain requirements traceability
  • identify and manage risks
  • generate and manage interface control definition (ICD) documents
  • define specifications for sub-systems or components
  • generate and execute acceptance test plans/procedures
  • schedule and lead technical reviews
  • provide technical oversight to sub-contractors or 3rd party vendors
  • Experience leading cross-discipline (e.g., systems, software, hardware and FPGA) engineering teams to develop, integrate and deploy advanced products and systems for U.S. Government customers
  • Experience in broadband communications systems such as telecommunications, optical transport systems, networking protocols, network operations, transport structures and routing & switching technologies
  • Experience with Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies such as DWDM, SONET/SDH, OTN, and Carrier Ethernet at rates up to 200Gbps
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong presentation and collaboration skills, especially in working with senior leadership and external customers
  • Able and willing to travel to various RAST locations and customer facilities (up to 25% of time)
  • Active TS/SCI in the last 2 years, and SSBI within the last 5 years Security Clearance required DAY ONE of Employment
  • U.S. Citizenship Status is Required as this position will require the ability to Access US Only Data Systems. Desired Skills:
  • Experience in these I&T areas:
    • Test automation design and development
    • Low level-to-high level integration for software intensive systems/products
    • Development of test requirements, plans, and procedures
    • Execution of test procedures and generation of test results and reports
    • Experience integrating large-scale optical networking systems, including signaling, network protocols, communications interfaces, network devices, optical systems, and Element and Network Management Systems (NMS)
    • Extensive experience in one or more of the following: systems development, software development, hardware development, mission support
    • Demonstrated ability to work at the conceptual level and work with program leads, customers and internal teams to ensure successful system development, integration and deployment
    • Experience in supporting business development efforts (such as generating technical content for proposals and ROMS as well as writing white papers to address new market areas)
    • Experience with subcontract management or managing subcontractor activitiesRequired Education:
    • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or other STEM (MS Degree desired)
