Position OverviewThe role of a Meat Specialist involves a variety of responsibilities associated with the cutting, preparation, presentation, and sale of meat products. This position is crucial in maintaining a positive image of the company by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and team members.Key Responsibilities

  • Product Handling: Skillfully cuts, arranges, and displays various meat products including beef, pork, lamb, veal, and poultry.
  • Specialty Preparation: Prepares unique meat offerings such as sausages and oven-ready items.
  • Quality Assurance: Regularly inspects products to ensure they meet company quality standards.
  • Sampling Management: Oversees the sampling program to enhance customer experience.
  • Spoilage Prevention: Monitors products to assist in preventing spoilage.
  • Mentorship: Guides and supports meat cutter trainees.
  • Punctuality: Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed and ready for work.
  • Customer Engagement: Provides exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries promptly and effectively.
  • Sales Maximization: Implements effective procedures for preparing, storing, and merchandising products to maximize sales potential.
  • Compliance: Adheres to established procedures regarding health, sanitation, and safety practices.
  • Environment Maintenance: Ensures a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment.
  • Operational Duties: Performs opening, mid, and closing tasks as assigned.
  • Safety Reporting: Immediately reports any safety hazards or violations.
  • Additional Duties: Completes other tasks as assigned by leadership.Job Skills
    • Understanding of meat department processes and procedures.
    • Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break down products into various cuts.
    • Knowledge of different meat cuts and cooking techniques.
    • Ability to assess product quality and freshness visually.
    • Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
    • Ability to convey information clearly to team members and customers.

      • A minimum of 14 months of retail experience is preferred.Physical Requirements
        • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
        • Standing or walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday.
        • Capability to perform various physical motions including bending and reaching.
        • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and temperature variations.
        • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
        • Proficiency in handling knives and cutting equipment.
