The Role
The Data Architect Intern will be responsible for the creation and implementation of an internal threat intelligence data repository that will gather and group data from all elements of the leading people-centric cybersecurity platform. Ingested data will be used to support Proofpoint's threat intelligence service in order to provide customers with unique data-driven threat intelligence analysis and deliverables which will help in guiding them on a path to a stronger security posture.
Your day-to-day
As a Data Architect Intern, you will combine technical data skills, problem solving, and strong communication proficiencies to support our threat intelligence service team in architecting an intelligence data repository to be used to provide unique insights to customers. The Data Architect Intern will have a chance to work directly with data solution specialists and cyber intelligence specialists to gain hands-on experience in data architecture that drives intelligence analysis. Interns will receive accelerated professional development, the ability to lead a high visibility project, and exposure to data architecture solutions from a leading cybersecurity organization.

  Educational background and interest in data and solutions architecture.

  Highly organized and the ability to lead through influence and coordination, as well as facilitate communication with various internal stakeholders.

  Proficiency in various data architecture and data warehousing products.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, systems, and subjects quickly
  
  
• 
  Outstanding documentation skills.
  
  
• 
  Understanding of data flow diagrams and database schema.
  
  
• 
  Previous experience building relational and unstructured data stores.
  
  
• 
  Understanding of network and email security.
  
  
• 
  Working knowledge of AWS tools and architecture.
  
  
• 
  Passion for working with and organizing data.
  
  
• 
  Self-motivated problem solver with a customer mindset and desire to help people.
  
  
• 
  Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.

  Ability to understand complex data structures and model normalized, curated datasets abstracted from these structures.

  Working knowledge of SQL and programmatic interaction with various AWS architectures, including Redshift.

  Working knowledge of Python

  Experience with Tableau is a plus but not required.
  
  
• 
  Academic or professional/internship experience working in a professional setting is a plus.
  
  
• 
  Proofpoint product knowledge is a plus, but not required.

  Candidate Profile
  You have the ability and interest in working part time (a maximum of 30 hours/week) in our Sunnyvale, CA office or remotely. You are currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in data architecture, data solutions, or data science and maintaining an above average GPA. This internship is scheduled to start immediately and run through August 2023.
