every day.About the TeamWithin Yahoo Research, the Knowledge Graph
Science team develops the technologies and solutions behind the
Yahoo Knowledge Graph and the various products built upon it across
Yahoo. Our team's work has a direct impact on product quality and
powers user experiences and services across Search, Media,
Commerce, and Advertising.ResponsibilitiesAs a research scientist
in our team, you will be in charge of developing innovative
solutions for a wide variety of knowledge graph problems and
products. You will apply and advance state-of-the-art machine
learning techniques in the field of information extraction,
knowledge graph and information retrieval, and solve a broad set of
Web-scale, real-world, computer science problems.Leveraging your
scientific expertise, technical skills, and relevant data, you
will:
- Identify, scope, and formulate new problems
- Design metrics and experiments to analyze problems and measure
results
- Review state-of-the-art approaches, explore new ones, propose
appropriate solutions
- Prototype and evaluate effective solutions based on agreed-upon
goals and metrics
- Work and communicate effectively with engineering partners to
put research results into action
- Provide thought leadership to guide the direction of products
and servicesYou will also:
- Generate intellectual property with patent applications and
publications at relevant forums
- Stay current on state-of-the-art research and emerging
technologies in related disciplines
- Maintain world-class credentials through publications,
collaborations, and service to the research communityRequirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical
Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math or related field
- Expertise in machine learning, web mining, graph mining or
natural language processing, and experience in information
extraction, knowledge management, information retrieval or related
field
- Solid programming skills in high-level languages such as Java,
Scala, Python or similar
- Experience with collaborative research, as evidenced through
solid publications
- Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal

this position ranges from $117,000.00 - $243,125.00/yr and will
vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and
experience. The compensation package may also include incentive
compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual
