What does this role look like?

Subcontracts Program Manager (SPM) for the Space Development Agency Transport Layer Tranche 0 (WILDFIRE) program and follow-on program supply chain execution. This is a highly dynamic and innovative program requiring initial delivery of 10 SmallSats to our SDA customer within two years of contract signing. Initial follow-on effort, Tranche 1, capture effort has already started with contract award prior to end of year.

The successful candidate will be the program lead for all subcontract activities. The WILDFIRE SPM is directly responsible for the management of the Bus supplier and will work with a RF Center of Excellence (RFCoE) SPM and the Enterprise & Strategic Sourcing supply (ESS) chain organization to manage all the payload suppliers to meet all commitments and requirements. The WILDFIRE SPM is responsible to ensure program priorities and program performance, quality, and mission success requirements are flowed down to suppliers. The WILDFIRE SPM will need to clearly articulate and communicate subcontract issues, concerns, and recovery plans to both program and Supply Chain organization leadership. Finally, the WILDFIRE SPM is also responsible for the negotiation and coordination of additions, deletions, or modifications to subcontracts.

The candidate is responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining subcontract management talent to maintain and improve the group's performance and professional development. Subcontract managers and administrators will be direct reports to this position. Leadership and participation in Inclusion events is expected. The position will likely require limited (10-20% once the pandemic is over) travel to supplier facilities. This position reports to the Sr SPM for Protected Comm Systems.

This role will offer you the following daily challenges:

The WILDFIRE SPM is responsible for providing technical, programmatic, and subcontract leadership and day-to-day direction of LM Subcontractor Management Teams. The WILDFIRE SPM is also responsible for providing periodic status reports on Supply Chain status including recovery plans for issues to Program leadership and SDA. The WILDFIRE SPM is a key member of the WILDFIRE leadership team and is an active participant in all WILDFIRE program leadership activities.

Preference is for this position to be in Denver, CO, but for the right candidate Sunnyvale, CA will be acceptable.

Basic Qualifications

To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:

  • Typically, the candidate will have 15 years overall experience with a minimum of 5 yrs related subcontract and/or program management experience.
  • Proven record of successful performance with focus on mission success.
  • Must possess well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in and subcontracting and procurement practices (FAR).
  • Ability to develop strong supplier relationships
  • Proven exceptional strategic communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.
  • You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and inspire the team through teamwork and possess an aptitude for leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership imperatives of Shaping the Future, Building Effective Relationships, Energizing the Team, Delivering Results and Modeling Personal Excellence, Integrity and Accountability.
