What you'll do...

Introduction

It's an exciting time to join our Walmart journey. We are seeking for a Senior Software Engineer - Backend Engineer for a key position in Walmart for the Item Setup Team. This dynamic team drives the technology solution with item setup to enable content setup, pricing, inventory and logistics. The team is responsible for processing and setting up to 500 million requests daily to make the items available in the stores and online.

  • Developing highly scalable services to process millions of requests per day and solve complex software engineering problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology

  • Contributing to large scale projects

You'll be required to...

  • Help invent the next generation Item setup process for Walmart Inc.

  • Work with different stakeholder like Product Manager, Project Manager and Architect to gather technical and business requirements to improve existing systems.

  • Work with Java, NO SQL, streaming and other related technologies to design and develop high-performance and scalable applications for use within the @Services & @Platform product ecosystem

  • Responsible for design and building an app to process millions of request in high performance, multi-tenant, global e-Commerce platform to setup online or store items for Walmart in Java, Python, Cassandra and Kafka environment.

  • Design and implement flows to understand the items content and ingestion pipeline by machine learning and provide insight to partners.

  • Debug and troubleshoot in existing software application build in Java, Kafka, Cassandra and Python to support business.

  • Responsible for environment setups for development, testing and deployments in continues integration.

  • Responsible to defining data model and API contract for Walmart to allow partner to item setup, Price update, and inventory setups and Order processing.

  • Leverage open source technologies like Hazelcast, Kafka, Hive, Cassandra, Apache Camel to build high performance and scalable solutions that extract, transform, and load big-data.

  • Implement algorithm to collect data from different domain and rank partners and content for improving performance metrics for partners.

  • Work with data scientists in translating research code to production quality software, highly scalable software.

  • Implement algorithms that operate on massive amounts of data using knowledge of Java/Python/R and data structures

About The Team

As a member of the Item Setup Engineering group, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing and testing code change required for special business requirements. You'll independently handle high impact, critical software/systems monitoring issues, troubleshoot business and production issues. As a member of the team, you'll be able to say that you work for the world's largest retailer and contribute to the development to best-in-class methodologies that impacted perception and drastically changed business as we know it.
