Facebook Reality Lab (FRL) designs, develops, and builds all its own ARVR and Portal hardware products. The Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for spends from raw materials to the individual components on a board, to the final consumer product. The team owns the commercial growth strategy and business relationships with various suppliers and manufacturers. The sourcing team moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain. Facebook is seeking a driven Strategic Sourcing Manager, Packaging that creates disruptive value by influencing the product definitions, designs, and specifications for our organization, and manufacturing of our ARVR and Portal hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for packaging sourcing across our ecosystem, including the commercial, operational and technical performance of our technology and supplier base. Together with your team and numerous internal partners, you will be responsible for quality, product and material availability, and cost that spans the FRL space.

Strategic Sourcing Manager, Packaging Responsibilities

  • Establish, manage and own strategic supplier relationships at the supplier executive level

Develop Packaging Supplier Sourcing Strategy which ensures that our supply base is capable of meeting Facebook' current and future technical and business requirements

Influence engineering and architecture teams for NPI development strategy and implementation, optimizing design/materials/process selection to drive lowest cost, industry leading quality, and continuity of predictable supply

Continually benchmark the packaging industry to monitor cost and technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Facebook supply chain

Drive early supplier involvement initiatives to ensure our packaging suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps

Establish packaging supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the RFQ process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with Packaging Engineering, Supply Base Engineering, and Supplier Quality Engineer

Negotiate purchase agreement, contracts, and SOW with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms

Lead Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost and cost of quality

Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, sole source and non-cancellable/non-returnable (NCNR) supply issues

Develop and implement supplier performance measurement system (Report Card)

Lead supplier business review process focused on exceeding Facebook KPI's and continuous performance improvement

Institute programs to optimize schedule flexibility while minimizing excess inventory exposure along with planning team

Work with Supply Base Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, and our CM partners to resolve any chronic part shortage or quality problems which are affecting production schedules

Take leadership in owned category for ramp plan, ongoing production plan and forecast, tooling qualification schedule and tooling life if applicable

Able to travel internationally at least one a quarter

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent

Minimum 3 years directly packaging sourcing experience or custom mechanical commodity

Minimum 3 years' experience managing Asia based suppliers

Knowledge in all or any of the following areas: SBS, Kraft paper material, offset printing, color management, packaging manufacturing process, molded fiber tray material and process, molded fiber tray tooling planning, tooling qualification, finished great qualification, budget planning including OpEx/NRE/CapEx etc.

Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should cost model, contract negotiation, and supply base management

Program management and cross-functional teamwork experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer electronics industry

Other custom commodity sourcing experience will be a great addition

Experience working with CMs, ODMs, OEMs

Demonstrated experience to think strategically but detail-oriented to support ideology with facts and data
