Minimum qualifications: 15 years of professional experience, with 8 years of people management experience. 10 years of UX management or program management experience within a UX organization, driving programs and developing products. Preferred qualifications: Experience building and scaling design systems, design workflows, and tooling. Experience working with engineering on implementing design systems as a set of ready-to-use front-end components. Experience identifying and addressing equity issues such as racial and gender identity in product development, and a commitment to building inclusive culture across large, geographically distributed teams. Passion for enterprise tools/workflows. Ability to think strategically about the organization and its larger environment, leading teams through ambiguity and organizational transformations. Communication and negotiation skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, advocate for innovative programs, and achieve buy-in for UX and business impact. The Corporate Engineering User Experience team fuels the innovation for Google internal enterprise: Googlers are our users. Defining the future of Google enterprise depends on defining, empowering, and supporting the vast array of user experience disciplines. We have specialized horizontal teams responsible for content strategy, UX engineering, design strategy, accessibility, and research strategy that work alongside the vertically integrated cross-functional teams. The program management and operations team is responsible for the operational excellence of the entire organization. The Equity engineering team drives user-centered product development practices focused on the experiences of underrepresented Googlers. This role is as much about specific deliverables - research insights, design systems, UX engineering frameworks, operational processes - as it is about strategically creating the culture of craftsmanship, excellence, and focus on the needs of all our users, including those from underrepresented and marginalized groups. We are looking for a leader adept at enabling and inspiring people around them to do their best work; who approaches challenging situations with calm, empathy, and creativity; who can build rapport with people from diverse functions and backgrounds; and who can effortlessly move between high-level strategic perspective and detailed direct decisions about specific functions. Success in this role will require deep understanding of multiple UX disciplines, organizational creativity, as well as a high degree of empathy and cultural awareness. This role will report to the VP of Corporate Engineering, Partnerships. Your peers will be UX Directors responsible for various product verticals as well as Engineering and Product leaders within Corporate Engineering. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Work across Horizontal UX teams to enable cross-functional collaboration that ensures coherent user experiences across the entire portfolio of Corporate Engineering products and services. Manage and lead a geographically distributed team of 50+ UX professionals who are diverse in their functions, talents, backgrounds, and ways of working. Empower the leads to elevate the craft of their functions. Evolve the structure and operations of the UX organization to meet the needs of our users and partners, together with peer UX Directors and cross-functional leadership. Inspire, empower, and grow members of a diverse team of UX talent; ensure that individuals have the right scope, skills, and support. Drive engagement efforts with stakeholder groups and Employee Resource Groups to focus on principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in product development.
