The Team

Product Marketing sits at the intersection of Matterport's Product, Sales and greater Marketing teams. From that vantage point, the team is directly responsible for the orchestration of all go-to-market activities across product launches, strategic announcements, major campaigns, and also drives the enablement of all customer-facing teams. Product Marketing is also the keeper of our technology narrative, and partners with the broader organization to ensure that our positioning, messaging and storytelling is consistent across all touchpoints.

The Role

Matterport is looking to hire a seasoned Director of Hardware + Accessories Product Marketing to drive our go-to-market strategy that enables any customer to leverage our groundbreaking 3D spatial data capture platform by using the device of their choice--whether it's our industry-leading Pro Series camera, our rich ecosystem of supported connected cameras, or simply using the built-in camera of the smartphone in their pocket. When it comes to digitizing the built world, we want to meet our customers where they are, and equip them with the right tools for any job. It's their world, and we're here to help them capture it.

At the heart of this role is the ability to be a trusted partner to our hardware business, a "full-stack" marketer that can orchestrate epic launches for our own cutting-edge technologies, as well as enable our hardware and accessories partner ecosystem to thrive via scaled GTM programs. You will (1) own and formulate our hardware and accessories GTM strategy globally, cementing Matterport's position as the most flexible market leader for 3D Digital Twin capture and creation, (2) collaborate closely with our regional Managing Directors, Business Development and Vertical subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure we are proactive in understanding repeatable use cases and local markets, and prescribing the best approaches across our hardware and accessory portfolio, and (3) up-level our synergies with stakeholders across hardware, software, and partners to make sure Matterport offers the most rewarding user experiences, delivering ultimate customer satisfaction.

While we're headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, this position can be remote and reports directly to the VP of Product and Platform Marketing. The role may require occasional travel (domestic/international) during normal times, but not during the pandemic.

Responsibilities

  • Define and help execute our hardware go-to-market by being deeply embedded with our Hardware Engineering team, and partnering with Product, Sales, and Marketing to create marketing-defining moments and campaigns.
  • Connect the dots for all stakeholders when it comes to GTM, whether it's by articulating and representing considerations across, pricing, packaging, market-sizing, prioritization, or anything in between.
  • Create followership. While product marketing is a quintessential servant-leader role, you can energize everyone's thinking with kick-a ideas and proposals that up-level our execution. As our CRO is fond of saying, make 1 + 1 = 5 or 14, depending on the day.
  • Think BIG--our spatial data library is a storytelling gift and a robust platform on which to build a brand new category. We're at the start of the start.
  • Evangelize our market opportunity with our hardware and accessory partner channel, and enable them to ride the wave as we create a brand new category. Partner success is our success.
  • Direct and sequence new product/feature launches, enable all customer facing teams with the right mix of assets, programs, and content, and influence the product roadmap.
  • Champion and evangelize our technology story internally and externally by crafting a compelling narrative that drives authentic conversations with prospects, signal-boosts our success with customers, partners, and developers, and paves the way for category creation with analysts and influencers.
  • Partner with demand generation, campaign, and content teams to ensure we are telling our platform story consistently across all of our channels. Done right, product marketing is the messaging API for the rest of the company.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree; MBA is a plus
  • 6 to 10 years of experience working in hardware and accessory ecosystems in a product marketing or related role, with experience working directly with external partners and internal cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to operate in a collaborative, fast-paced cross-functional environment, and provide thought leadership, guidance, market context and competitive intelligence to drive consensus and reach key decisions
  • Be like water. We're in full-on build mode here at Matterport, where the only constant is change. Things will move fast, schedules may slip and gauntlets from leadership will be thrown your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be that agent of change and keep our sister teams on course
  • Highly organized with acute attention to detail and a proven track record of working in cross-functional, hypergrowth environments
  • Experience working with technical stakeholders and sales leaders; equally comfortable being the product and engineer whisperer as you are being sales' best friend, while embodying customer-centricity above all
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to present complex material to customers, press, and analysts in a compelling way
