As the IT Operations Manager for Cepheid, you will be responsible
for ensuring the companys infrastructure and processes are
operating at the highest levels and within specified SLAs. You will
also be a source of accountability for, and a champion of
continuous improvement by analyzing and forecasting trends using
data from monitoring and ITSM solutions. This includes managing
both IT staff responsible for monitoring and automation, as well as
managed service providors supporting Cepheid IT operations.
Finally, the IT Operations Manager will work closely with the IT
executive staff and decision makers in other departments in order
to identify, recommend, implement, and support cost-effective
technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for staff mentoring and career development.
Communicates quality improvement goals and vision to service
managers/owners. A single source of responsibility for
communications regarding gaps and improvements in service levels.
Works with service owners to defines key performance indicators
(KPIs). In collaboration with business leaders, senior management,
and stakeholders, plan and establish SLAs that support business
goals for the entire IT services portfolio throughout the
enterprise. Determine scope and objectives for all SLAs; deliver
techniques, practices, and procedures for SLA formation and
administration in a manner that best protects company interests.
Monitor SLA performance for compliance with organizational needs
and requirements, including follow-up checks for corrective action.
Provide recommendations based on analysis of trending information
Oversee continuous service level improvement initiatives associated
with core processes and mission-critical systems Establish and
maintain regular written and in-person communications with the
organizations executives, department heads, and end users regarding
pertinent SLA activities and developments. Champion all process
management including creating, updating, and maintain all SOPs
(Standard Operating Procedures). Responsible for the design and
continuous improvement of the Infrastructure and Application
monitoring platform. Ensures monitoring requirements are defined
and carried out by process owners/managers. Drive efficiency gains
through automation and integration with systems, monitoring
platforms, and ITSM solutions. Liaises with internal stakeholders
(e.g. engineers and managers) to identify system requirements.
Utilize experience in design, procurement, implementation, and
operation of complex automation systems to deliver value on
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)
Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on
time For people managers, ensure your associates attend and
complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.
A minimum of 15+ years of broad IT experience. A minimum of 7+
years of IT operations experience. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
experience. Direct work experience in a service level management
capacity, or senior project management capacity, including all
aspects of SLA development and execution. Strong knowledge of ITIL.
Strong background in IT Services with an emphasis on service desk
management. Strong planning and organizational skills involving the
ability to manage multiple work streams effectively. Solid
understanding of virtualization, server, and storage technologies.
Solid understanding of networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS,
Routing, etc. Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure
technologies. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment A
keen interest in new technologies and open source Knowledge in
Infrastructure automation, build automation and deployment
automation Adept at conducting research into service-related
issues, best practices, models, and methodologies Any Security
focused certifications are a plus.
