POSITION SUMMARY:

This individual manages a team of 2-3 Leave of Absence (LOA) Coordinators and administers the Cepheid leave program and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. This includes leave request intake; leave eligibility determination; preparing/providing required notices, forms, and letters; and independently approving or denying leave cases based on relevant certification information. Serves as subject matter expert and liaison with Danaher Benefits team.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Directly manage team responsible for US leave of absence (LOA) administration and support * Research and resolve discrepancies between associates and leave request, as needed * Lead the team in monitoring, tracking and maintaining leave of absence documentation, files and data including but not limited to following up on required paperwork such as medical certification, request for extended leave, federal/state forms, internal documentation, and other required information * Oversee employee data and submission of information regarding any state leave * Ensure compliance and alignment with federal, state, and local laws, as well as with internal policies * Consult/communicate directly with the business, as needed, in support of the team monitoring associates on leave or on accommodation * Foster and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key HR and business stakeholders and cross-functional partners, both internal and external * Manage various initiatives to drive operational excellence, improve and refine processes and procedures * Prioritize and direct projects and activities with the team, as appropriate * Manage vendor partner relationships * Track and report on LOA program to upper management * Act as escalation point for benefits inquiries/issues * Liaise directly with Danaher (parent company) benefits team on health and financial well-being programs * Design and lead Cepheid campaigns/programs in alignment with Danaher benefits portfolio, i.e. Open Enrollment, on-site flu vaccination program, well-being, employee outreach, manager education, etc. * Supports continuous improvement projects, such as improving data integrity, processes, and workflows. Partners with others to increase process efficiencies and/or support productivity. * Manages projects requiring coordination with other teams and process improvement projects; develops and implements policies, procedures, and training materials, as needed, to maximize efficiency.

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)

* Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time * For people managers, ensure your associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 9+ years of related work experience, or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) with 7+ years of related work experience * 3-5 years of direct people management experience, with track record of success fostering individuals and teams * Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward, understandable manner * Discreet in handling confidential/sensitive information * Knowledge of federal, state, and local leave of absence plus Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and HIPAA laws and regulations * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with many different levels of employees, both verbally and in writing * Ability to make sound decisions quickly in a fluid work environment

Knowledge and Skills:

* Proficient skill in using a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
