In the role of Staff Software Engineer, you will report to the Director of Engineering for the Platform. We are considering applicants for our San Francisco office location.In this role, you will:

• Enhance cross-team collaboration to define technical requirements and contribute to system architecture, ensuring alignment with our goals and scalability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code while following industry best practices, including code reviews and design patterns.
• Resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring that both frontend and backend components are optimized for speed and reliability.
• Contribute to the automation and optimization of build, deployment, and monitoring processes to support a smooth development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test suites (unit and integration) to ensure system reliability and robustness.
• Implement and maintain security best practices, safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.About YouWe get excited about candidates, like you, because...
  • You have 12+ years experience as an Engineer and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • You have experience in Golang or have expertise in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, C#, or C++).
  • You have experience designing and working with RESTful APIs.
  • You embody a deep understanding of cloud-based architectures, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including serverless frameworks, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • You embody best practices for code quality, testing, and performance optimization, with hands-on experience in unit testing, integration testing, and debugging tools.
  • You have excellent collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • You are a proactive problem solver, take ownership of your work, and love delivering high-quality user experiences.About the TeamWe are a well established team of enthusiasts committed to creating elegant solutions for complex challenges, with our primary focus on delighting anime fans. The Account Services team designs and maintains essential services, including authentication and authorization systems that are integral to our customers' user experience. Additionally, we manage user settings, profiles, watch data, and Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality.
