Together, let's advance the world of minimally invasive care.Job DescriptionPrimary Function of PositionThe Core Technologies Engineering (CTE) group within Intuitive has an immediate opening in Sunnyvale, CA for a Staff Software engineer with a focus on infrastructure for hardware-in-the-loop automation. The system is a hybrid of physical hardware and virtual hardware created by our full-system emulator. This platform will provide software engineers with rapid automated feedback indicating if the software is safe and reliable to use for internal clinical labs. -Our team will be responsible for both the hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure and the full-system emulator.A successful candidate must excel in a high-energy focused team environment and must balance delivery of new features, supporting existing features, and tracking system changes. An excellent candidate can rapidly learn the large complex and continually evolving systems, through establishing working relationships with multiple engineers in multiple departments and direct experimentation with the existing system. A deep sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required, as is the ability to make work fun and interesting.Responsibilities:Design and develop the infrastructure needed to automate testing cycles of the physical hardware.Learn and explore the continuously evolving da Vinci system software and firmware.Explore creative ways to bridge the gap between physical da Vinci hardware and the virtual hardware.A vigorous advocate for hardware "test first" that educates developer on the productivity benefits of building automated test in advance.Continuously follow up with developers (i.e. our internal customers) to support feature requests, bug fixes, and system integration.QualificationsSkill/Job Requirements:Minimum - 5+ years of relevant professional experienceExtensive experience understanding and debugging complex systemsExcellent knowledge of Software Engineering and Computer Science fundamentalsStrong experience using PythonExperience with a CI/CD pipeline system such as Jenkins, Travis, Gitlab, etc.Experience with Docker and GitSome experience with Linux process management, signals, and interprocess communication is advantageousProficient communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of talented engineersAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19. - Details can vary by role.Intuitive is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
