Together, let's advance the world of minimally invasive care.Job DescriptionPrimary FunctionThe vision systems analyst group is a part of the core technology engineering group at Intuitive. - The goal of the group is to deliver the highest image quality to our surgeons for all our da Vinci robot systems. - The focus of the group is mainly on the imaging algorithms, algorithmic tuning and calibration of the endoscopes, displays, and illuminator needed to accomplish excellent image quality. - The vision systems analyst group works to define the light source, optics, sensor, displays, and algorithms used on the da Vinci robotic systems to ensure high surgical image quality.The successful candidate will have a strong software development and integration skills and will enjoy working collaboratively with a team. - The individual will help drive the software architecture and will be involved in all aspects of the software development cycle: from early prototypes, to optimizing code, to testing and debugging, to integration with the da Vinci platform, to seeing their product be used in a clinical setting.This individual must possess a strong ability to work in teams with shared responsibility on complex projects, be motivated to explore new directions, have energy to get over tough problems, and have a strong sense of individual ownership.No prior medical device experience is required for this position.Roles and Responsibilities Create testing platforms for the development of image processing algorithmsBuild simulation environments for optimizing and defining various specificationsOptimize algorithms to support image processing in real timeDefine software architecture to be used across the group and organizationDeliver superb video quality to cliniciansObtain and iterate surgical feedback into designsPrepare and review patent applicationsSupporting formal risk analysis and documentation for regulatory submissionsSupporting verification and validation of the vision systemQualificationsSkill/Job RequirementsBS, MS or PhD (MS or PhD preferred) in computer science, electrical engineering, physics or related degreeMinimum 6 -years of industry experienceDemonstrated skill at solving complex engineering problemsStrong background and experience with Matlab, C/C++ and object-oriented designAbility to write clean, scalable and easy to maintain codeAbility to develop across different platforms including Linux and WindowsComfortable with writing and testing code that interfaces to hardware and bring up new hardware systemsAble to optimizing code when needed to improve system performanceWillingness to learn CUDA and GPU program (experience is a plus)Willingness to learn about camera sensors, image processing and displays (experience -is a plus)Experience working in a regulated industry or on mission critical applications a plusAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19. - Details can vary by role.Intuitive is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
