Together, let's advance the world of minimally invasive care.Primary Function of Position:The Ion-- --- - --- - endoluminal system is Intuitive's new robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The endoluminal R&D team is looking for a gifted engineering manager to contribute to our navigation software, which guides our physician users through the 3D structure of the lung, to take a biopsy at a target location.In this role, you will lead a software engineering team in a fast-paced environment. Your team will design and implement a variety of software components. You will take on projects with broad technical scope, covering robotics, computer graphics, and user interface design. You will work independently as a technical leader and team builder, delivering key user-facing product features.Responsibilities:Drive software development work across a variety of technical areas, including computer graphics, graphical user interfaces, simulation, and robotics algorithmsRecognize, attract, and train top talent through one-on-one coaching and team-wide initiativesOwn the complete medical device software lifecycle for Ion navigation and GUI, covering requirement definition, systematic risk assessment, prototyping, development, testing, and releaseChampion best practices in software development, including code reviews, bug scrub meetings, coding conventions, continuous integration, defensive programming, static analysis, and design patternsDevelop and manage effective interfaces across the organization, with other software engineering teams, clinical engineering, design, human factors, and regulatory affairsCreate, maintain, and track bottom-up schedules to consistently achieve team deliverablesRequirements:To qualify for this position, you must have:Minimum graduate degree in computer science, or equivalent experienceMinimum Three years of experience developing softwareStrong working knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programmingGreat communication skillsHigh levels of independence, technical ownership, and organizationPrevious experience as a tech lead (formal or informal); demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive projects to completionExperience creating high-quality technical documentationIdeally, a candidate would also have:Experience recruiting, mentoring, and functionally managing teams of highly skilled engineersFamiliarity with development in a Linux environmentExperience with GUI development (Qt/QML)Experience with OpenGL and 3D renderingExperience with parallel programming and CUDAExperience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal EngineKnowledge of robotics algorithms and medical device developmentDue to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
