Together, let's help to advance the world of minimally invasive care.The Automation, Equipment and Test (AET) Team is responsible for making the robots that make the robots. We develop equipment, fixtures, and tooling that tests and calibrates our endoscope products.Position Overview:The engineer in this position will be in charge of designing and building high-precision stereo endoscope test and calibration software as part of a diverse engineering team. This position will focus on software development using C# that involves controlling electro-mechanical test systems (mechatronics) and writing vision algorithms. Our test systems have extremely high-performance standards to calibrate and test endoscopes that are safe, reliable, and consistent. Responsibilities include everything from laying down the architecture and design, to leading the development, release, deployment, documentation, and sustaining of software and algorithms for test and calibration of the vision systems for Single Port da Vinci systems.Roles & Responsibilities:Design, develop, release, deploy, and document software applications for test and calibration of endoscope vision systems from start to finishControl motorized stages, sensors, safety systems and other devices as part of overall test systemImplement image processing and closely related algorithms for test and calibration of vision systemsLead the efforts in building software for use in manufacturing new vision systemsDevelop and continuously improve manufacturing test and calibration systems for endoscopes and sub-systems: cameras, image sensors, illumination systems, etc.Work closely with product development engineers and test engineers to understand requirements to develop robust, reliable, and reproducible endoscope test and calibration systemsSkills, Experience, Education, & Training:Skills/Job Requirements:Excellent programming skills (C#/Python preferred)Understanding of software development best practices such as OOP/OOD/Design Patterns, functional programmingOwn, plan, and execute projects from start to finishPassionate about technologies and love programmingWork and collaborate with a multidisciplinary teamAbility to communicate complex concepts to othersExcellent technical documentation skills for systems, software, or algorithms you developContinually improve team best practicesEnjoyment of tackling large complex problemsPreferred Skills:Experience with cameras, image sensors, or image processing fundamentalsExperience developing robotic or electro-mechanical systems, including control systemsStrong industry experience in architecture and development of scalable production software systemsStrong analytical, time management, interpersonal, listening and communication skillsHands-on debugging of test systems, troubleshooting complicated opto-electronic & mechanical systemsFamiliarity with physics, math, and statistics.Experience in medical device manufacturing or regulated engineering environmentKnowledge and experience with Matlab is a plusEducation/Experience:Minimum BS in the relevant field: computer engineering, computer science, mechatronics, robotics, etc., MS preferred.Minimum 3 years of relevant software development experienceDue to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
