home. The Geriatrics, Palliative, and Extended Care service line
features an inpatient Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE)
team, a geriatrics consult service, medical and recreational
therapy in a 120-bed Community Living Center (CLC), a hospice unit,
Home Based Primary Care, inpatient and outpatient palliative care,
and outpatient geriatrics clinics. Additionally, the
non-institutional care segment includes Adult Day Healthcare,
Homemaker Health Aide services, and Community Nursing Home care for
veterans from San Bruno to Eureka, CA. Our organization maintains a
strong partnership with a leading medical school. Overview of the
Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics, Palliative, and Extended
Care Role: The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Geriatrics,
Palliative, and Extended Care provides vital administrative,
programmatic, and clinical leadership to meet clinical, research,
and educational objectives. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this
individual acts as a key clinical advisor to the Medical Center
Director and the Chief of Staff. For academic responsibilities, the
ACOS will also report to the Chief of Geriatrics at the medical
school, including matters related to faculty promotion and
advancement. Key Responsibilities: Veteran-Centered Planning:
Foster education and shared decision-making for veterans in
geriatrics and palliative care. Quality Improvement: Continuously
assess and enhance the quality of care. Outcome Improvement:
Develop and implement strategies to improve outcomes for veterans.
Research and Education Support: Collaborate with the Chief of
Geriatrics to support research and educational initiatives,
translating findings into improved patient care. Financial
Management and Monitoring: Oversee budgets and monitor fiscal
activities. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with service chiefs to
create strategic plans and develop programs that ensure
coordination and cost-effectiveness. Staff Education and
Development: Guide and develop staff to align with medical center
objectives. Vision and Leadership: Direct a cost-effective,
integrated healthcare system with a forward-thinking vision.
Collaborative Relationships: Cultivate strong inter-service
relationships and partnerships with the medical school and
