Job Description:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or equivalent practical experience in supply chain.
  
• 7 years of experience in thermal commodity management.
  
• Experience with global thermal supply base and technologies for server and storage infrastructure.
  
• Experience in thermal management from infrastructure to chip including next generation cooling technologies, materials, components, and solutions.
  Preferred qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    
  • Ability to drive change with a long-term perspective across multiple functions and transform the business.
    
  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations and resolve conflicts, while working cross-functionally with internal/external partners.
    
  • Excellent leadership, management, business acumen, decision-making, and analytical skills.
    About the jobIn this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of supplier development and ongoing performance management to Google's cutting edge technology and business needs. You will develop and execute Google's material acquisition strategy, and reduce total cost of ownership for Thermal hardware in support of our infrastructure deployment that powers all of Google's services. Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you will optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     • Own commodity strategy development and execution.
      
    • Build, scale, and standardize first-tier and sub-tier components supply ecosystem with high degree of effectiveness and efficiency.
      
    • Develop and maintain executive level supplier relationships, conduct high-level agreements, secure comprehensive legal agreements, lead cross-functional supplier selection, performance management through metrics, supplier reviews, and drive exceptional supply chain improvements.
      
    • Engage with engineers on next generation technology initiatives by fostering vendor development of solutions and road maps.
      
    • Maintain a high sensitivity for industry/technology intelligence and market supply/demand conditions.
