Sr Network Engineer (G08) with Security Clearance

The Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) engineering team seeks an experienced network engineer to plan, implement, manage and maintain various networks. With a focus on backbone infrastructure, this individual will work with other system engineers and network engineers to support advanced systems that process modern communications signals for the US intelligence community. The successful candidate will: Plan, design, install, configure and maintain unique systems with multiple vendor support networks for engineering development lab environments as well as for support of customer/field deployments Apply practical knowledge and understanding of multiple layers of protocols (e.g. SDH, OTN, GMPLS, Ethernet, SS7, IP, TCP/UDP, etc.) Implement proof-of-concept ideas to improve network operation, performance or security Debug and troubleshoot installed networks Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on telecommunications networks for RAST business areas The successful candidate is a self-starter, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment. He/she has a strong work ethic and is flexible and adaptable in order to respond to mission-critical needs as they arise. On occasion, he/she may need to work beyond the conventional business hours of 8am-5pm and/or travel to perform work at customer facilities. The candidate may have direct interaction with customers and must represent the company in a professional manner. The candidate will be expected to travel to various RAST locations and customer facilities for approximately 25% time. Required Skills: 4+ years- experience Experience working on various vendors- networking equipment, including (but not limited to) Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Force10, Juniper, etc. Experience with OSI networking layers 1-7, including various specifications (e.g. ITU, RFC, etc.) Experience in network and system administration Experience with Linux OS and associated system administration Excellent problem-solving, debug and troubleshooting skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Work well independently and in a team environment Must be able to travel independently and operate for extended periods without direct supervision Ability to travel approximately 25% time Active TS/SCI clearance U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment Desired Skills: Working knowledge of tunnels and proxies Experience scripting in Python, Perl, Linux shell, or other languages Experience with virtualization under Linux; familiarity with VMware ESXi and vSphere, libvirt, etc. Experience with reverse engineering and development of standard and non-standard protocols Experience with tools such as Wireshark, TCPDUMP, Kali, etc- Required Education: BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons 108514 Raytheon is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
