of minimally invasive care. Job Description Primary Function of
Position: The overall goal of the APD-Imaging team is to
investigate, prototype and test different imaging modalities to
enable the surgeon to see better, garner more information, or
enhance their visual surgical experience. The Sr SW Imaging
Engineer APD requires a candidate with extensive know how and
interest in different imaging modalities to support minimally
invasive surgery. The candidate will be required to work closely
with the APD Imaging as well as other internal and external
collaborators. The ideal candidate will have software, computer
programming, and imaging prototyping experience. This role reports
to the Director, APD Imaging. We are seeking a Sr SW Imaging
Engineer who will possess a strong ability to work in teams with
shared responsibility on complex projects, be motivated to explore
new directions, have energy to get over tough problems, and have a
strong sense of individual ownership. No prior medical device
experience is required for this position. Roles & Responsibilities:
· Create, iterate and produce well thought out pipelines for
various imaging modalities · Evaluate and improve real-time image
processing pipeline algorithms · Obtain and iterate surgical
feedback into designs · Establish and maintain strong, productive
relationships and collaborations across functional and
organizational boundaries · Conduct literature reviews to stay
abreast of scientific knowledge in imaging and extract putative
promising technologies for surgery Qualifications Skills,
Experience, Education & Training: General/Education · Masters in
Computer Science or related technical field · Strong communication,
presentation and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail
and organization · Ability to learn quickly and self-educate on
different imaging, software and programming methods · Must be able
to work effectively on cross-functional teams · Demonstrated skill
at solving complex engineering problems · Strong work-ethic to
support aggressive timelines or multiple projects as required ·
Comfortable in pre-clinical and clinical environments
Experience/Skills · Previous experience designing, implementing,
testing and optimizing imaging modalities and their display ·
Proficient in Matlab and C++ with 5+ years of experience · Ability
to write clean, scalable, and easy to maintain code · Experience
with GPU/CUDA programming a plus · Experience in developing image
and video processing algorithms · Ability to develop across
different platforms including Linux and Windows · Comfortable with
writing and testing code that interfaces to hardware and bring up
new hardware systems · Previous experience designing, implementing,
testing and optimizing imaging modalities and their display ·
Knowledgeable in camera sensors, displays, optics and illumination
