Job Description:

No Agencies - Principals Only Need ApplyJob Title: Technical Project ManagerWho is Gener8?Gener8 is a contract engineering firm that commercializes products. Established companies come to us to develop their next-generation systems, but the bulk of our business comes from Startup companies that entrust their entire future to our ability to take an idea and make it a reality. From research to manufacturing, we figure out a way to make it happen. There is an increasing trend for startups to outsource their engineering, and if the product is difficult, many end up here. We have different studios (teams) for different product categories and typically have over 100 product development projects going on at any given time. We are a matrix organization that is constantly saturated with every form of technology that exists and so everyone here works hard and gets lots of exposure to different projects. We merge Optics, Mechanics, Electronics, Fluidics, Thermodynamics, Software, and everything else to solve problems and design systems that few other groups would be able to take on. All of our managers are technical. All of our team members are hands-on and apply themselves. All of our projects are hard. All of our timelines are aggressive. We are not afraid. The Medical StudioWe are growing and so we are always keeping an eye out for great talent, but this particular job description is for the Medical Engineering studio. Many of the most interesting projects are for medical applications and this studio specializes in those applications. We do all the hard engineering but with the added twist of understanding some biology and we design our systems to be ISO 13485 compliant. Gener8 will take on Class III and Pre Market Approval (PMA) projects. We have audited and certified processes and manufacturing capabilities. The Med Tech team knows how to leverage our infrastructure to deliver innovative products that advance medicine and improve people's lives. What is this Role? Many of our projects lack clarity in the initial phases and you will be the one to clear that up. These initial phases are mostly technical and then transition into a more traditional project driven by budget and schedule. In these phases, you will be the face of the company to the customer and will build trust in that relationship. You will need to be technical enough to participate in those early conversations. In smaller projects, the Project Manager may act as the Lead Systems Engineer and vice versa. We are a matrix organization, and in some cases, you will internally "recruit" the team to work on the project. You have to be good enough to be respected by the team so that they want to be part of your project. Once the project is through the early phases, you will likely hand it off to another department to come back to a new project in its infant state. You will manage 1-to 2 projects at a time depending on the complexity. Like all of our team, you too will be hands-on. We don't yell at our engineers; we listen to them and help them. Be prepared to help your team. You have enough technical experience to understand why that is important.Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to building proposals for new projects making estimates on timing and costs. Pull inputs from other folks as needed.
  • Participate in product development teams providing regulatory and quality support to ensure timely release of products in compliance with applicable design control requirements
  • Put the project together in a trackable format such as Gantt charts and budget tracking tools. Make presentations for the customer and occasional internal teams.
  • Work with the team. Learn what needs to be learned. Do what needs to be done. Ultimately, you are responsible for the project. You need to have the ability to balance between keeping the team and customer happy while keeping the project on track.
  • Execute these projects to the appropriate quality standards. Typically ISO 13485 for the Med Tech team.Education & Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelors + 6, Masters +4, PhD+2
    • Medical Experience Preferred
    • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interface with executive management, regulators, vendors, and customers
    • A mix of technical and managerial experience
    • Managerial experience involving management of a team
    • Strong interpersonal skills including team building, collaboration, and problem-solving
    • Be ready to be awesome
